This year, the Philippines has a surplus of mangos so the country's Agriculture Department recently launched the 'Metro Mango' campaign to offload the excess fruit.
Thanks to the unique weather patterns of El Niño, this year the Philippines has found itself with two million kilos of mangos. In order to tackle the surplus, the government has launched the Metro Mango campaign. The new campaign not only involves slashing prices on mangos in stores across the country, but the government will also host dedicated mango cooking classes and even a mango festival in June to use up the fruit before it rots.
