The amount of salt that's used to melt ice in urban locations has increased exponentially over the past several years, so the Saltnets are intended to help curb this. Funding now on Indiegogo, Saltnets work by packing a mix of sodium, calcium and magnesium chlorides into the tubular design of the mat. From here, the Saltnets go to work to effectively melt ice and snow at temperatures down to -15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Saltnets are great at ensuring you don't need to utilize salt in order to keep walkways and entrances free of ice and snow, but they're also great for use with pets. When salt gets trapped between the paw pads on a dog's foot they can irritate them and cause problems. Lastly, but surely most importantly, Saltnets aim to help eliminate the need to shovel after a fresh dusting of snow to reduce the need to get out the snow shovel.
