Melody the Medical Assistant is a tool that doctors in China can use to diagnose their patients. Far from a physical tool like a stethoscope or an MRI machine, though, Melody the Medical Assistant is a chat bot that interacts with users to streamline the diagnostic process for doctors in densely populated areas.

Melody was designed by Baidu, which is China's equivalent of Google. It uses AI to smartly converse with patients, asking them targeted questions in a conversational manner and responding to patients answers with relevant follow-up questions. Though Melody can't make a diagnosis itself, it can gather important information for doctors quickly and without any human time spent, making it easier for doctors to make their diagnoses once the information is assembled.
