Meat lasagna is just one of the North American comfort food classics that is reinvented at Toronto's Maple Leaf Tavern.

Rather than being topped with red sauce, the lasagna is served in a soup-like dish that is filled with enough sauce to be enjoyed with every bite. On the menu, the dish is simply titled 'Lasagna,' although it offers an inventive twist on the traditional recipe with toppings of veal shank, bone marrow and porcini mushrooms. Maple Leaf Tavern's Lasagna is served alongside a chopped salad.

As consumers -- Boomer in particular, look to increase their intake of protein, many are turning to meat as a source. This reinvented lasagna dish provides patrons with a unique way to satisfy their desire for comforting gourmet food and necessary nutrients all at once.
