The Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 collection is a wonderful cacophony of design. The French design house splashed around elaborate colors and details to create some highly dramatic, luxury couture. Lacroix’s mind-bending outlook is reflected in bustle skirts and fascinating details. The collection contrasted models from different eras, mingling women from the swinging 60s with Edwardian ladies appearing to be on their way to an imaginative fantasy ball.  Who else could match lace skirts with lace tights and get away with it? Or bother to patchwork three different shades of pink and red beneath the black passementerie on one tiny toreador bolero? Or paint the layered flounces of gown to look like the petals of a giant poppy?
