The subjects of Martin Schoeller’s forthcoming book “Female Bodybuilders” are an imposing bunch. More muscle-bound than most men, these females push their bodies—and traditional notions of femininity—to the limit.

The photo gallery of female bodybuilders in Martin Schoeller’s book are shocking to some and beautiful to others. Schoeller’s photography captures the diverse personalities of these women in a way that no fitness competition could.

And while many people think of androgyny and gender disassociation when they encounter female bodybuilders, “Female Bodybuilders” showcases both the inner and outer strength of the women photographed.

I love women who bodybuild BUT dislike when they lose feminity in process, otherwise Yes. Like that Rachel something in 1990s or Corey Evers etc bodybuilder BUT still feminine. Ladies, retain your sex appeal while U beef up. (save for those men who like U this way).

Exactly. In the video, Schoeller advises one of the models to relax rather than smile--he thought that would come off as more genuine, and looking at these photos, I'd agree.

These women are all taking steroids (variants of male hormones) ..... the equivalent to men who take female hormones (shemales) ..... who knows what the mindset is ...... just as men who take female hormones become sterile and impotent, females who take male hormones stop menstruating and become permanently sterile ....
