Maria Tiurina Re-imagines Zodiac Signs in her Illustrations

After noticing that most horoscope-related art was one-dimensional and contrived, Maria Tiurina decided to recreate the zodiac signs in a darker and more metaphorical sense.
Though Tiurina originally sketched all twelve ladies of the zodiac, she only selected her favorite few for the final step: digital painting. Each drawing features tremendous detail and took several days to complete. The final collection is made up of Aquarius, Cancer, Capricorn and Leo, all of which are totally weird and mesmerizing in the best way possible.
Tiurina's surrealist compositions were inspired by Victorian photographs and Renaissance paintings. She explains, "I wanted to create unnatural and theatrical compositions with a slightly thick and intense atmosphere. The figures are still, they look like they posed for a fine art painting for hours."
