Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2009 Collection Takes Us Back in Style

In a world where most “looks” have been created already, it’s always refreshing to witness a Marc Jacobs show. Forever an innovator, it’s Jacobs’ modern approach to styling and the vision of his creations that cause the hysteria over his collections. 

With a musical score likened to that from the old Hollywood movies of Gene Kelly, the sound is big band, classy and incredibly sophisticated. The femininity of this era was best known for emphasizing the waist, and this is perhaps the anchor of this collection for the Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 09 catwalk parade. A modern fusion of textural patchwork from checks, jeweled skirts, brocade sash belts, lurex threaded shirts and all offset by the most amazing accessories destined to become “must haves” for the new season; ankle wrap sky high stiletto’s, hand held “lady” bags and matching boater hats, worn tilted of course!

The emphasis is on the shoulders, with well-defined jackets, wide leg pants and ¾ skirts introducing a new silhouette. Jacob’s trademark “eclecticism” is the perfect blend of vintage inspired shapes with thoroughly modern styling. The applause is ongoing for this master of modernity!
