Authorities in the province of Manitoba in Canada have launched an intelligently conceived smartphone wildlife app, dubbed 'Gold Wild Manitoba', that is designed to make it easier than ever for regular citizens to play a proactive and important role in the preservation of wildlife as well as fauna across the province.

The app essentially allows users who come across different plants and animals to enter data about them and even upload accompanying identifying photos to the community. Available for free download for both iOS and Android, the app is frequented by nature experts who offer knowledgeable responses to posts and uploads.

Not only will this wildlife app help authorities keep track of plant and animal populations, but it will also help to bridge the gap between casual wildlife enthusiasts and the professional naturalist world.
