Male Vanity - Rise in Male Plastic Surgery Stats in UAE

It seems that men of UAE are not at all satisfied by the mere fact that they are engineering the first, biggest and best infrastructures in the world.  Apparently they think that their bodies should also keep up with the signs of the times.  Yes, like most of the beauty-challenged inviduals, UAE men too have turned to plastic surgery to look and feel better.

V-A-N-I-T-Y.  If someone would object, then why have these men spent Dh75 million to Dh100 million since 2005 to reshape bulging bellies, bat ears, nose and even get penile implants.  The number of patients has actually jumped to 100 percent in the last 3 years with nose reshaping, hair implant and liposuction as the most popular surgeries among men, according to aesthetic surgeon and researcher Dr. Luiz Toledo.

“One in five cosmetic surgeries we do is done on men, the majority of whom are Emiratis,” said Dr. Toledo. He adds, “Men now seek plastic surgery because they want to look younger for professional or personal reasons.”

There is also an increasing demand for penile prosthesis (implanting a pair of bendable rods within the erection chambers) for the male diabetics of the country.  As the procedure is advised for diabetics with erectile dysfunction, ninety percent of those with the disease from ages 26 to 83 seek for this.

According to Dr. Esmail Abbara, penile prosthesis allows men to have an erection similar to the natural one. “It doesn’t change the sensation on the skin of the penis or a man’s ability to reach orgasm. Satisfaction rates with the prosthesis are very high.”
