Active Bodies: Physical and Nonphysical Interactions within the Male Gender is a piece of work by Missouri-born artist that uses alternative photographic processes to explore male gender roles in sports as dictated by social and cultural norms and expectations.

His photographs explore the challenges brought about by these expectations and the depth and complexity of relationships formed between males. A variety of objects, images and human forms -- all of which capture the photographer's own involvement in sports -- are used to explore the nature of male gender roles.

Devin's own participation in basketball informed his understanding of the intertwining of physical and non-physical interactions, and explains why certain physical objects make frequent appearances in his works -- particularly a basketball jersey.
