We took a minute to interview Brian about this awesome service he was providing to college students!

What made you decide to start MadPackers?

Well, a few things. First, I loved college and everything about it. I learned a great deal about myself and the world during my 4 years at Binghamton University. After graduating, I had a hard time adjusting to the 9-5 grind. Ties and cubicles were not in my vocabulary. Energy, ideas, and creativity were words that made much more sense to me. So I devised a plan to find a way to get back in college before it was too late. It consisted of leaving the United States and disconnecting from my world so to speak.  A teaching stint in Taiwan, trip to Tibet, and talk with my sherpa gave birth to the concept of MadPackers. I truly believed that I could create a college-based business that helped the collegiate world. As an English major and recent graduate, I had my pulse on some of the things that students were and were not getting from their respective institutions. One of those things was a better way to transition into college life. With all the stress and hassle associated with moving off to college and leaving home for the first time, I believed there had to be a service that eased the transition for both students and their families. While fighting with the waves in south Florida waters, the name MadPackers was first echoed and this story began.

Can you tell us what services MadPackers offers?

Sure. MadPackers offers students the ability to travel to college like a RockStar using our shipping and storage service…It delivers student’s belongings throughout the school year. From taking students belongings at the beginning of the year or sending it home at the end of the semester, to sending their belongings to study abroad locations around the world, to spring break shipping home, to storing belongings during winter, summer, and study abroad breaks….we got you covered. Oh yeah and we give limo rides to and from school as well. Pretty sweet. Not to mention our 30 campus music tour each spring featuring “A” list artists and an all day festival of MadLiving!

Can you explain the whole process to us?

The process is very simple. A customer calls us up at 888-Mad-Packers or orders online. They have the choice to order one of our shipping or storage services or both if they like. We then send them 10 double-wall boxes, ScotchÒ tape dispenser, bubble wrap, packing noodles, markers, (insurance included) to their door. The customer packs their belongings and we schedule a time to pick up their order. The next time the customer sees their belongings it is waiting in their dorm room or back at their home.  We contact the customer numerous times along the whole way to make sure they are kept in the loop on where their belongings are so they can travel stress-free and enjoy the trip.  The same goes for our storage service. We make sure the customer knows their belongings arrived safe and sound.  Allowing them to sit back and relax and enjoy their break.

What is the price range for your services?

Our shipping service ranges from $379 to $639 (10 double-wall boxes, ScotchÒ tape dispenser, bubble wrap, packing noodles, insurance included, pick up and delivery, 24 hour customer support). Our storage services range from $25 for one box, up to $329 for summer storage of all your belongings. We also have our very own Box Squadä; our Hercules-like official packers that will come by and pack everything up for you. The cost for this luxury is $99.  Not too steep considering how much tuition costs these days.

Is there anything else you want to tell our readers about MadPackers?

How much time do I have?! MadPackers is the start of our lifestyle brand company that is going to change the way students transition into college forever. We are moving, no pun intended, (did I really just say that) into every kind of convenience service a student could use to make their life easier while they are away at school getting an education. As a recent graduate and citizen of the real world, moving is over rated, so is laundry, house cleaning, and going out to grocery shop. So our next goal will be to let students realize that getting an education should be their main focus, not laundry or dorm room cleaning.

And in place of cleaning those “dirty undies” we are bringing students music festivals and spring break events that will make their vacation from the books and library towers Mad rewarding.
