While attending a jewellery arts program, Sarah Hamel realized the incredible opportunity she had to collaborate with her talented classmates and came up with the concept behind the first Made You Look jewellery store in Toronto. When Sarah graduated from George Brown College, she had already handpicked the talent and had good insight into each person’s work ethic and creative abilities. Made You Look features a retail area in the front where jewellers can display and sell their wares, as well as a craft area with 12 work benches which are rented out and available 24/7 for live, in-house creation, whenever the creative urge strikes. The store, which recently opened Made You Look Accessories across the street, sells handmade jewellery from over 100 Canadian artists. This diverse mix of contributors leads some really eclectic pieces like the credit card necklace featured. The eco-friendly necklace by Thera Ip is actually made of real, cut-up credit cards.
