Brazil-based company Skol Beats recently held a matchmaking event that involved using luminous masks to help strangers find their social media match. With so many dating apps and matchmaking services available, many people believe that dating no longer involves any mystery. This event tried to recapture that sense of mystery by hiding the faces of participants.

As part of Rio Music Carnival, Skol Beats handed out 5,000 luminous masks equipped with Bluetooth technology. The masks were then synced with each user's Facebook profile in order to let users know if they have a lot or just a little in common with others. If two users had a great deal in common, the masks would light up green to indicate a match. If the opposite was true, the masks would turn bright red.

The event demonstrates how technology can be used in different ways to add an interactive layer to the matchmaking process.
