Ken Kinnison loves the game ‘Portal’ so much, he paid fellow fan, Scot Dacus to build a weighted ‘Companion Cube’ media center PC for his wife. If you don’t know what a Companion Cube is, check the above video. You’ll have a fair idea by the end of it. I’d say it’s a very brave or a very foolish man who commissions such a gift. It’s a daring builder who uses magnets to hold a hard drive in place. The combination of the two results in a Companion Cube decorated with hearts that is a huge gift success. Priceless.  Theres pretty much nothing behind the areas of the cube where the magnets are except the blue ray drive itself. The hard drive and mobo are a good bit away. I'm sure there could be 'some' negative effect but likely only if a part were failing anyway.
I find it strange they say '4' in the article, since you can see 3 on the faceplate itself, theres 3 more embedded on the cube itself for it to hold onto. (The cube is entirely made of plastic).
