Renowned chef Roy Choi and San Francisco restaurateur Daniel Patterson have opened 'Locol,' a business venture that fuses fast food grub with healthy, locally sourced ingredients. Not only is this LA-based restaurant offering a health-focused alternative for the underprivileged community that surrounds it, the menu is extremely affordable.

In part of a larger effort to change the eating habits of all Americans, Locol is especially noteworthy because of its location. Situated in a neighborhood called Watts, this fast food-laden community lacks any real option for affordable and healthy eateries, and Locol aims to change that.

Some standouts from the menu include Locol's take on a traditional hamburger, called 'Burgs,' which combines meat with grain and tofu, as well as chicken or veggie nuggets, chilli and tortillas, with Agua frescas offered in place of soda.
