"Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" is one of the newer comedic sensations to hit Cartoon Network's Adult Swim lineup, and with much fanfare. Unlike most programs on the network, they aren’t cartoons, and they refuse to be confined to the TV set. The Tim And Eric 2008 tour is on the road as we speak, performing live for audiences across the US.
With a passion for cats and a knack for the shockingly absurd, these two sing, cry, and laugh their way through each episode, blowing away more “conventional” acts such as “Metalocalypse” and “Venture Brothers.”
One episode even features a cameo by Jeff Goldblum, implying Tim and Eric are either well connected or simply respected for their role in the world of “experimental” comedy. Featuring a range of skits, musical numbers and bizarre animation sequences, they’ve obviously done their homework as to what Adult Swim's all about.
As for the live tour, well, its success may suggest a new rise to rock-stardom for the unconventionally funny. Such live events have never been a staple for the underground comedy TV crowd, and, aside from occasional promotional events, no other Adult Swim comedy has composed an all-out tour.
The results on the tour are still pending, but ratings indicate the show itself is doing quite well for an “indie” production. Tim and Eric may never receive the numbers attained by shows like “Family Guy,” or “American Dad,” but they’ve already secured a place in the hearts and minds of insomniac potheads everywhere.
