 Life Magazine Shuts Down A number of print magazines have stopped printing in light of rising print costs and a shift to online mediums. However, one of the suprise announcements is that Time Inc. is shutting down Life magazine. The company feels that the trend in magazine publishing is gravitating toward Internet publishing. It will maintain the magazine at www.life.com/life, where you can still look up archived copies and covers like the one pictured that my family thinks resembles me. Unlike Janet Evanovich and her jelly donuts, my ashtray runneth over on my desk. This is the third time that Life has been deep-sixed since 1972. Photo Credit: www.life.com/life  In a reflection of the tough times facing magazines, in January the company announced nearly 300 job cuts and sold 18 of its smaller magazine titles including Popular Science, Field & Stream and Parenting. Time Inc. is repositioning many of its brands to follow its readers and advertisers onto the Internet.
