One state cannot exist without its antithesis, as opposites help to define each other. The LA Forum and Library of Four Ecologies is an architectural project that inspires the public to think about this concept and how it relates to more than just the physical environment.
Dave Edwards was inspired by notion of sacred and profane when he designed this Californian civic building. As a whole, it acts as a sanctuary of knowledge and nature, often in stark contrast to parts of the metropolis that surround it. The structure of the institution is compelling and monumental with its extending cage-like limbs. It behaves like an unusually penetrable example of solid, especially when compared to the vast voids inside the LA Forum and Library of Four Ecologies.
