Louis XV furniture has been given a modern spin by Lee Broom. The designer describes his six piece trendy fusion collection as “art that is ultimately functional.” The fantastically eclectic concept plays with the use of neon colours to highlight the delicate lines of traditional furniture, illuminating the pieces with theatrical panache. “You need to see the pieces face-to-face to really appreciate their beauty,” Broom says of his works. “It is a surreal and mesmerizing experience.”
Lee Broom's Neo Neon collection, to debut at at the Brick Lane Gallery during this year's upcoming London Design Festival, gives new meaning to "revival of the classics"--it's more like taser-ing of the classics. The application of neon elements to the outlines of the six hand-carved Mahogany pieces (illustrated above with the Electric Louis chairs) "haloes the delicate lines of the traditional furniture whilst casting deep reflections in their richly lacquered surfaces."
