Sensacell Floor Tracks Footprints in Real Time

Remember the scenes in Michael Jackson’s video for ‘Billie Jean’ where he danced and the floor lit up underneath him? Thanks to Sensacell, you can be like Mike every day—minus the moves and the red leather jacket.

These floor cells light up as you walk over them, tracking your movements over time. High-traffic areas will become brighter in time, reflecting the amount of traffic that area receives. Sensacell built this 250-square foot installation using 1,000 LED panels.

As Gizmodo points out, the purpose of the installation is to remind us of our ecological footprint.
