Brother and sister Anna and Tuomas Laitinen are the designers behind the Laitinen AW 2010 collection. The menswear designs mix psychedelic prints with muted colors and offbeat shapes, including an oversized cape that would have Dracula jealous.

According to Tuomas, the beginning of the Laitinen AW 2010 collection came about with images of nineteenth century juvenile Finnish prisoners, with a dark palette to match that inspiration.

Implications - In the last few years, contemporary fashion has featured a pronounced obsession with the styles of yesteryear. Companies and brands that want to appeal to fashionistas and the general public alike can do so by trumpeting the connection between their new clothes and designs from the past.
