With respect to the parts found within the average external hard drive, there really isn't a good reason why it should be manufactured into the rigid shape of a rectangular prism. The Lacie Little Disk may require a more organic mold than the industrial box, but it encloses its contents more efficiently and offers additional benefits.

Vincent Claudepierre's slim design makes it easy for the computer peripheral to be stashed in a drawer or tucked into a briefcase. It's slightly rounded form is particularly well suited to flexible fabric laptop bags. Its USB connector cord can be wound around the edge of the disc for convenient and tangle-free storage. The data capacity of the Lacie Little Disk is 40GB, 60GB or 80 gigabytes and its contemporary and vibrant aesthetic is just as appealing.
