By roasting coffee beans in his home oven in Oakland, California, Freeman learned the ins and outs of coffee roasting and proper serving techniques. Today, Freeman is considered the leader of artisanal slow-drip, Japanese-style brewed coffee.

Blue Bottle Shops have sprung up through the San Francisco Bay Area and Brooklyn, New York, and all locations serve only organic, shade-grown beans that must be served within 48 hours of roasting. Each cup is brewed and served one at a time to ensure the best flavor possible. Coffee, anyone?
