These captures of isolated snowy landscapes by American Photographer Kevin Cooley are visually stunning. The series entitled 'Lights Edge' will be exhibited as part of the 'Journey Forth' show at the Wendi Norris gallery in San Francisco this July. The otherworldly images capture giant flumes of light beaming down into the snowy mountains, giving them a supernatural appearance.
The candid shots were created by throwing flares up into the night sky and capturing their trail on a slow speed camera shot. All the works in the show have a common theme of revealing the "awe of nature in a different light." I think these images are a great way to reflect on the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us and all the magic it can provide.
