The word kaleidoscope is a composite one which comes from the Greek words for ‘beautiful shape to look at.’ The images in a kaleidoscope are duplicated with mirrors and the phenomenon was known to the ancient Greeks. The modern kaleidoscopic toy became popular in the 19th century and continue to be a popular trend today as seen by these two videos.
