 Meet Julian Kreusser, Host of 'The Big Kitchen with Food' Published: Dec 22, 08 Comments: 1 Views: 11,160 Julian Kreusser has wanted to have his own cooking show since he was four years old; he’s achieved his dream just one year later. Julian Kreusser is the host of ‘The Big Kitchen with Food,’ a program that airs regularly on Portland Community Media. Julian Kreusser’s parents educate him at home using unschooling principles; no doubt that’s how the kindergartner ended up pursuing his own cooking show. According to Sylvia McDaniel, the executive director of Portland Community Media, viewers love Julian Kreusser’s show. “It even has potential to be a national program,” says McDaniel. “It’s a wonderful show. We’re just thrilled. He actually understands what he’s doing. He’s not just following orders.  By age 3, Julian Kreusser was making "secret potions" out of food. He woke up early to scramble eggs while his parents slept. He invented "toasted olives" (green ones) for a neighborhood snack. For the record, they were a success.
At age 4, he saw a cooking show on Oregon Public Broadcasting and thought, "I should be doing that."
He can't reach the counter without a stool, and sometimes he has to ask his mom the name of an ingredient.
