German-born photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten documents a female's life as she transitions from girl to woman. Her series, 'In Between,' 'Teenage Stories,' 'Awkward,' and most recently 'Mother and Daughters' deal with the many issues that arise when growing up.

The photographs all of the landmarks of being a girl. Scenes successfully capture sexual tension with the opposite sex, growing into your body, or the relationship between mother and daughter. Fullerton-Batten uncovers the full range of emotions that go along with being a youth.

Julia Fullerton-Batten uses untrained street-cast models in order to keep a true awkwardness and stiffness in her photographs. This works in her favor capturing complex and challenging relationships the subjects have between others and within themselves.
