That Presidential candidate John McCain’s appearance with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live was funny should be of no surprise to anyone who has seen John McCain on SNL in comedic action.
The opening skit with John McCain on SNL has Fey as Sarah Palin doing a QVC-type show featuring a “Joe the Plumber” action figure, blank DVDs of McCain’s town hall debates with Barack Obama, a jewelry extravaganza with Cindy McCain, a William Ayers air freshener, and even some John McCain utensils for “cutting out the pork.” Sarah Palin said last week that she “Wasn’t going nowhere,” regardless of Tuesday’s election results--a “Palin 2012” tee shirt was also up for grabs.
In 2002, we saw John McCain on SNL as Amy Poehler’s ‘creepy husband’ in a hilarious performance. A couple of weeks ago, McCain’s comedic side reappeared at the Al Smith Memorial Fund Charity Dinner in which he and Barack Obama roasted one another.
A word to the writers of Saturday Night Live: Please only write for one cameo and not two. The opening skit that featured John McCain with Cindy McCain and Tina Fey as Sarah Palin was great. However, John McCain on SNL’s Weekend Update presenting his new campaign strategies wasn’t nearly as good.
