Joel Kimmel Has an Intricately Vintage Aesthetic in His Works

Considering their growing popularity, it's no surprise graphic novels are now also influencing big-budget movies and TV shows such as 300 and The Walking Dead, and that is particularly why artists such as Joel Kimmel is so intriguing. With a graphic novelesque aesthetic, he illustrates images that appear to have a story. Detailed and whimsical, Joel Kimmel's work also deals with a fantastical world, which is often the case with graphic novels.

Based in Sudbury, Ontario, Joel Kimmel is a talented Canadian illustrator who specializes in portraits, icons, narrative and conceptual artworks. With a special affinity for rural landscapes, farming and the Great Depression, Joel Kimmel creates work that often has a vintage feel to it.

With his eclectic body of work, it is no surprise that Joel Kimmel also teaches illustration part time at Cambrian College.
