What a horrible concept to promote a job search site! The ad communicates that seeking a new job by joining Jobzonen.dk is a good way to leave a disatisfying job, which is OK. However, depicting the unhappy worker as a blow-up doll with bruises and black marks is pushing it way too far. If you are in a job where you are sexually harassed and physically abused, you need to contact the police, not join a job search community!

The awful campaign, which was created by Dentsu ad agency in Beijing for the Danish site (I guess no agency in Denmark went with the idea, so they had to go all the way to China!), consists of three prints featuring bruised and beaten dolls with bloody noses, black eyes, and various injuries.

I am appalled by the use of serious topics such as sexual/physical abuse to market a job search site.

This is actually the second time we’ve featured blow-up dolls. The first can be seen below.

We’ve featured a number of posts on Fake Love about people who seek romantic companionship from plastic dolls. We’ve also featured several controversial ads that promote awareness for genital mutilation, but never have we had an article that covers both topics. These ads are for the Association of… [More]

This campaign easily joins the two below in my top 3 of worst ads trivializing serious issues:

This a controversial ad campaign that has sparked much debate. It’s an ad for Running Free support bras. It needs to be noted that they were not actually created by Running Free. DDB had pitched the idea, but the bra company refused to be associated with the imagery. The campaign features three ph… [More]

Very interesting campaign. Here’s the setup: The video depicts winter in the year 2079. We should expect to see bleak, snow covered imagery, instead, we are presented with a hip pool party complete with bikinied booty, ample breasts, hard abs and six packs. Because, ya know, global warming has elimi… [More]

@ Med its all metaphorical. In very, very bad taste. Yes. But metaphorical nonetheless. The visual rhetoric however, is indeed beyond appalling.

Lourdes, all ads are metaphorical. But there are some metaphors that cross the line and abuse the creative freedom. Using the topic of sexual and physical abuse in this light is surely one of them.
