Asturias, Spain native Jalder Lozano started taking pictures of his surfing exploits with his buddies when he was 21 and hasn’t looked back since. The 26-year-old surfer and photographer is starting to build considerable buzz in the photography community with a series of photos that deftly illustrates the duality of danger and beauty that comes through the solitary act of big-wave surfing.

Jalder Lozano is basically a self-taught shooter whose main focus is taking pictures that display the intrinsically personal connection between surfer and ocean. “I simply take photos which share my vision of surfing and my respect and passion for the ocean,” he said. “Everything else comes naturally. What I tried to do is show the interaction (or relationship) between man and ocean through surfing, not only focusing on the surfer him or herself.”

It appears that Jalder Lozano and his unique view of surf photography are working for him – his prints have been picked up by online French surf photography gallery 6 Feet and Perfect for international sales.
