The Iris Van Herpen Fall 2014 Collection is debuting with Soo Joo Park as the face of the campaign. Titled 'Biopiracy,' the designer's runway centerpieces feature three models including Park, suspended in human-sized Ziploc bags. Complete with plastic breathing tubes and vacuum-sealed suction, the campaign will make you momentarily gasp for air.
The model herself is folded in the fetal position wearing a haute-couture lab garment in a dark, metallic gray. Overall, the show is a commentary on the staggering progress we've made in decoding the human genome and the consequences of scientifically mapping the meaning of humanity.
It's no surprise to see each garment constructed out of synthetic materials with sharp, futuristic effects that function more as a commentary on the discomfort we feel with technology than humanity itself.
