Nimany is a handmade fashion line launched by two friends who grew up in Tehran, Iran. Their brand, geared at men and women, is now gaining global recognition, including in New York City where the line is now created.

The Iranian fashion line includes funky vintage style t-shirts with graphic prints merging western and eastern design elements. One Nimany shirt, for example, features American pop culture icon Marilyn Monroe on the front, and large Persian (or Perso-Arabic?) script on the back.

They also have cozy pieces like the black Secret Jungle Hoodie with a beige crest featuring Persian script on the chest and more beige writing down the sleeve.

“The concept of hand crafted clothing started when as teenagers Nima and his friends would take Levis Jeans and other garments and draw, write and alter them to their taste,” the site explains of his youth in the 80s.

“Nima began, wearing what he was buying and altering, to the parties that took place in the underground scene of Northern Tehran. This became not only an outlet of youthful energy, but also a platform for experimentation.” Shortly after, his friend Mamsaid expressed interest in fashion.

“These two started crashing parties and squeezing their way into as many social settings as they could, just to show off their work. Not having any formal training in fashion design or consistent supply of material, they used what was available and incorporated them into their fabrics, items such as spray paint, studs, stitches, pins and etc.”

After Nima moved to NYC to study fashion and Mamasaid spent time in Tokyo, the duo met again in New York where they launched Nimany.
