'Intrinsic' Leverages the Creative Skills of Kenyan Workers

Intrinsic is a for-profit company with a mission to enable "creative, holistic and sustainable business" in developing communities in Africa.

Providing a platform for artisans in African to showcase their creative skills, Intrinsic sells unique handmade laptop covers to be sold in the United States. The artisans are paid a fair wage, enabling them to provide for their families and rise above poverty.

Intrinsic currently employs over 70 workers in four different communities within Kenya, while their office is located in Huntington Beach, California. Their business strategy follows a four step plan: identify skills in a community, connect to the market, transform the community and repeat.
