On July 2nd, 2017, the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau will celebrate Canada's 150th birthday celebration with a special event called the Interprovincial Picnic on the Bridge. A Canadian first, the event will bring together residents and visitors from Ontario and Quebec to enjoy a delicious picnic while overlooking Canada's capital city.

The Interprovincial Picnic on the Bridge will be held on the historic Royal Alexandra Bridge, which separates the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau. On the day of the event, the bridge will be covered in lush green grass so that friends and families can come together for a communal picnic. The event will also include live entertainment, samplings and giveaways for special prizes.

Although already sold out, the event demonstrates how cities can team up to host special events for Canada's 150th birthday celebration.
