London auction house Phillips de Pury & Company, in partnership with Adventure Ecology, invited a group of international artists, architects and designers to take part in a special project that will re-use the auction house’s waste catalogues and packaging. They will creatively build new habitats for the declining numbers of bird, bat and bee species in urban environments.

Adventure Ecology and Phillips de Pury will select the three most appropriate designs for manufacturing and distributing with high-end retailers and museums. The original, handmade works go on display June 23rd and will be auctioned off at Phillips de Pury and Company on June 27th, with all proceeds going to charity.

Participant artists include Tomoko Azumi, David Austen, Jurgen Bey, Martino Gamper, David Harrison, Stuart Haygarth, Henry Krokatsis, Max Lamb, Peter Marigold, Charles Mason, Mark McGowan, Peter Saville, Sir Paul Smith and Michael Sodeau.

We believe that the arts has the ability to captivate, inspire and engage creativity for change. In order to create a sustainable future it will require us all to rethink intelligent design and to rethink innovative resource management and by partnering with Phillips de Pury on ‘The Birds, The Bats & The Bees’ project it is the first pixel in a much bigger picture.
