Indoor Golf Simulators - High Definition Golf (VIDEO)
[Edit]
As technology keeps improving, virtual golf will eventually be better than the real thing: no waiting, unlimited practice and you can play Pebble Beach in your Tiger Woods Underoos. If you’re willing to actually slip on some pants, you can invite your friends over and play the closest thing we’ve got to being on a course so far, High Definition Golf.
Standing on lifelike playing surfaces, players hit their own clubs and balls into a massive screen displaying a high-resolution projection of a championship course, such as Torrey Pines or a dozen others that will make you regret you ever picked up a club. As you swing, motion-activated 3-D cameras equipped with spectrum sensors measure your club head speed, angle at impact, ball velocity, spin and launch direction. The simulator’s high-powered computer then projects your shot—no matter how it looks—onto the screen.
After you watch your computer-generated slice go into the rough (it doesn’t lie), the system will then tell you why you stink, giving you a chance to correct your swing.
If championship golf courses weren’t enough, the High Definition Golf simulator comes with tournament packages, practice modes, tech support and a stereo-surround home theater mode that allows you to watch your favorite Dorf on Golf video afterwards.
What will you pay for swing measurement down to a tenth of a degree, you ask? Around $44,000. Those who don’t carry a coin that size can hope their favorite sports bar owner is reading this post.
