'Mistaken for Strangers' is an unscripted documentary about an indie rock band called, 'The National.' Formed from a band of brothers, twins Aaron and Bryce Dessner both play guitar and piano, while siblings Scott and Bryan Devendorf play bass and drums.

Lead singer Matt Berninger is the fraternal outlier, but his friendships with the other members span decades and share Cincinnati, Ohio as their hometown. The band began to make it big in New York by the time it was ready to embark on a 22-month tour for album, 'High Violet.' Matt asked his brother Tom if he'd be interested in becoming the band's tour manager to which he accepted and embarked on this unrehearsed filmmaking opportunity.
