This web browser plugin is trying to drum up more business for independent bookstores and steal customers away from online retailers and corporate giants. Small business such as independent bookstores have suffered massively from competition with supermarkets, Internet-based megastores and ebooks. Bookindy is a Google Chrome extension that tells people the best book price at an indie shop nearby when they try to buy books from Amazon.

Bookindy is trying to help independently owned book shops in the UK by hijacking Amazon's site. The platform makes it more convenient for customers to support the local economy. When an additional option pops up beside Amazon's prices once users have downloaded the extension, they can choose to have the book delivered to their home or pick it up at the store.
