Based in Charleston, South Carolina, In Every Story (IES) Labor Services is a non-profit organization and temp agency that puts its workers first. Temporary labor is often considered to be very precarious work because those who work it often have little bargaining power and are very easily replaceable. What is more, IES works mostly with workers who are already in a very precarious position, that is to say, veterans and homeless individuals. The goal is to get these people into more permanent work.

"We're a different kind of employment agency, though, because we serve our workers as well as our customers. We do this by using a portion of our profits to create savings incentive programs for our workers," IES writes on its website. "In turn, we train and create a better product for customers. Our employees are more motivated and better quality workers."
