 Icewall One’s Igloo Satellite Cabin Twarts Harsh Weather and Lunging Bears Published: Nov 1, 09 Views: 2,010 The Igloo Satellite Cabin manufactured by Australia’s Icewall One is a pre-fabricated remote shelter that can withstand subzero temperatures, high winds, ice, snow, and lunging bears. The transportable pods are available in many colors. The prefab igloos were originally designed for scientists as shelter during remote exploration and research missions. Multiple Igloo Satellite Cabin units can be linked together using sets of extension panels to create connecting tunnels. They are becoming attractive as shelters for eco-tourism as well.  The basic Igloo Satellite Cabin (3m diameter and 2.1m high) is a pre-fabricated, insulated, fibreglass cabin made from 8 wall panels and 4 self-supporting floor panels. The whole Igloo is bolted together and secured to the ground by 8 wire tie-down lines attached to tent pegs or similar depending on the terrain. Four of these tie-down lines also act as lifting strops to attach to a helicopter.
