Houses Made Of Dirt - Cal-Earth Projects
[Edit]
How do you build a dirt cheap house? You build it out of dirt, of course! Well, actually out of dirt, barbwire and bags.
Nader Khalil, a successful Iranian architect, got his inspiration after he headed to the desert on his motorcycle after a midlife crises. The time living amongst the villagers led him to an important observation: as far as building materials go, the only universal material people have in common is dirt.
Nader has developed an ingenious way to make good-looking, super-strong, affordable houses for almost nothing. The popularity of his natural building techniques is growing daily. He teaches workshops at Cal-earth institute and has even been a consultant for NASA on space colony building planning.
