This home renovation in Brisbane, Australia may become a trend for those with small blocks and in ground pools.

By having a pavilion style extension the amount of renovation required was greatly reduced. The large pool across the back yard could remain in the yard with the extension going over the top of it. This gave the clients a WOW factor to the back of their 1920-30’s colonial home.

The new design included a 145 square metre home extension sitting over the pool. An extra benefit is that a considerable amount of the pool is shaded making it perfect for daytime swimming in the hot Brisbane summer and warm winter.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were relocated to the back of the home to better suit the lifestyle needs of the owner’s and their children.

Steps were created from the original hallway in order to access the elevated extension. The main areas of the house are open plan with concertina doors to the deck.

This new space achieved the owners goals of wanting to spend more time in a stunning space with plenty of room for entertaining.

Implications - By being creative the renovation is more eco friendly and cost effective for the home owner. Stats for Home Built Over Swimming Pool Trending: Older & Chilly
