High Trends - Drug Related Trends
Drug Related Trends

I am still befuddled by Hersey’s ridiculous decision to sell their product in drug ‘wrap’ style packaging so decided to investigate further…

Drugs are almost becoming cool again - and even worse totally acceptable and considered the ‘norm’. As Jeremy commented astutely on the Hersey’s trend “

Too bad they didn’t push the limit as much as Cocaine Energy drink, but still a nice use of shockvertising.

” He has, as always, a very valid point.

Here are the highs, or should I say lows, of drug related trends;

Hershey’s Coke Wraps

I failed to believe that, as Jim M commented, “

Hershey marketing is a bunch of old men from cow country in central Pennsylvania… They would have no clue that the product looked like illegal street drugs. That would be no where within their realm of life experiences.

” Drugs are so entrenched in today’s society I don’t think Hershey’s would employ people whose fingers were so far off the pulse this would have slipped by.

US Drug Money

An odd one this as I am not sure what they are comparing their data to. Surely not all the countries in the World (205) could be arsed to check their banknotes, so the sample sizes is out for a start. Personally I have also heard claims reported that it is Ireland where the most coke is found on cash. I don’t know who wanted the US to have this ‘claim to fame’ but i am pretty sure some pretty simple statistic massaging could mean a lot more countries could also take this dubious crown.

Candy Cocaine

I am still pretty sure this was much ado about nothing with a case of Chinese whispers inventing the Candy flavoured coke.

Drugged Money - US Bills Have The Most Cocaine (GALLERY)

Paper money is known to contain high traces of cocaine. A new study published in the latest issue of the Trends in Analytical Chemistry journal has revealed that U.S. bills take the top spot for having… [More]

Cocaine Models

Bar a few eating disorders this is a perfect representation of fashion, and class A example of shock advertising. It is interesting that the Benetton group commented on this and I have to feel for them as this post spread like wildfire so would have been pretty busy posting those disclaimers up. It achieved everything an advert needs to do so maybe they should have been braver and took someone’s elses glory. Of course that is if it really did not come from them that is!

Cokevertising - Fake Ad Uses Cocaine to Convey Fashion Junkies (GALLERY)

The world of fashion is always pushing the boundaries.  A year ago, it was all about porn when French Fashion label Shai shot hard core flick with their clothes dangling on the edge of the bed.  Now, it’s… [More]

Cocaine Beetles

Let’s put it in these giant dead bugs, man! They won’t get anyone’s attention.

You can kind of see where they were coming from and it is a lot more subtle that the coke filled guitar.

Cocaine Guitar - $3.5M Instrument Can’t Play a Lick (GALLERY)

This guitar won’t ever play a note—that’s because it’s made of pure cocaine. A dope head flew from Costa Rica to Rome with a guitar made to look like a black Strat Squier. He even bothered to put the… [More]

Cocaine Energy Drink

Soft drink brands go where Benetton say they feared to tread. My problem with this again is the name / drug association was very very effective in marketing the drink and if they did not withdraw it from market it would have sold like hot cakes.

Cocaine Energy Drink Becomes Headline Controversy (as Planned) (VIDEO)

Two weeks ago we covered the launch of the Cocaine Energy Drink.  Now, it’s all falling into place as the drink is becoming headline news with top tier politicians upset with the brand name.  This is even… [More]

Snorting to Sleep

Yet another example of cocaine association being used to sell something - in this case rather ironically sleep.

Sleep Replacement Drug - Snorting Orexin A

Discoveries like these are what make cool hunting so exciting. Sleep could be replaced in the future by the simple act of snorting a newly discovered brain chemical. The drug could prevent the feeling… [More]

Snorting Dead People’s Ashes

Keith Richards shows how not to do it. If this does not put people off taking cocaine I don’t know what will.

Snorting Your Daddy - Keith Richards Admits Snorting Father’s Ashes

Rolling Stone Keith Richards has admitted that he consumed all kinds of illegal substances in his bad times, but this would shock anyone. In commentaries published on Tuesday, the 63 years old guitarist… [More]

PR for Coca

An interesting PR stunt on behalf of coca - Coca-Leaf Soda. I am sure the idea is better than the taste was.

Google Drug Maps

It is amazing what people think of if they indulge a little too much.

Tom Cruise Brand Marijuana

I’ll be honest there is nothing about this trend I don’t love.
