High Tech Torment and Cell Phone Stalking

Teens are always hankering for the latest technology, but some are learning that having access to the latest and greatest isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be.
Cell phones, pagers and IM can also be used as tools of harrasment and stalking. Rumours can be spread and technology can be used to wage what’s tantamount to warfare. The same technology that parents equip their kids with to keep them safe can also be used to harrass and torment these kids.
Ex-boyfriends and girlfriends can plague their past loves with vicious harrasment and spread lies with a few simple clicks.
Today's uber-wired teens aren't so lucky... One in three said they get as many as 30 hourly mobile phone text messages from a boyfriend or girlfriend wanting to know where they are, what they're doing or who they're with.
Just over 70 percent said rumor spreading by boyfriends or girlfriends on mobile phones or online social networking sites -- such as News Corp.'s popular MySpace.com -- is a serious problem.
