Retail locations of the popular New York-based supermarket chain Wegmans are making use of special hearing assistance devices that are designed to make it easy and hassle-free for customers suffering from hearing loss to better communicate with store employees.

These hearing assistance systems comprise high-tech induction hearing loop contraptions that assist any customer who is wearing a hearing aid or is utilizing a cochlear implant embedded with T-coil components. These hearing loop regions allow customers to hear employees clearly and without being distracted by other meaningless sounds. At present, the systems are being installed at Wegmans pharmacy counters, customer service desks and some checkout lanes.

Ultimately, this Wegmans initiative will make customers with hearing loss feel more welcome in its stores whilst making it easier for employees to communicate with and serve them.
