Disney Global Products has launched a collection inspired by Disney Channel hit show “Hannah Montana”. The line features tops and trousers, accessories and housewares. The collection allows 9-14 year old pre-teens feel stylish, but they’re not so adult that they will offend mom and dad’s taste.
“Hanna Montana”, starring Miley Cyrus - daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus - is one of the most popular tv shows among tweens. Her distinct fashion sense resonates with girls who want to emulate her style. Parents feel comfortable letting their little girls go to school in the ensembles.
It's not a costume. A tween girl isn't doing dress up, they want to look like they could be Hannah Montana's friend," said Donna Sheridan, vice president and general manager of apparel, footwear and accessories for Disney Consumer Products. "This is a fashion line."
Disney Consumer Products expects retail sales of its tween business to hit $400 million this year with a lot of room to expand in the future, chairman Andy Mooney said at the International Licensing Expo, which shows off 6,000 brands and products tied to many familiar characters, logos and companies.
