The Detergent Hangtag Gives Retail Labels a Useful Second Function

The designers of the Hangtag encourage you to consider the waste that surrounds the production of price tags, on clothing specifically. The fashion and retail industries will likely continue to mark their products in this way for years to come, so Yuexin Huang, Danghui Li, Long Chen and Yao Zhang came up with a more resourceful, efficient and eco-friendly compromise.

An entry into the 2014 IF Design Awards, this idea involves the production of water-soluble material that's paperlike, but made from detergent. The string attached to it would also be dissolvable, inviting you to toss your new T-shirt -- for instance -- straight into the washing machine after purchase. No laundry detergent would have to be added to a load that has this Hangtag within it. Stats for Soap-Composed Price Tags Trending: This Year & Popular
