Greenies Meet Yuppies - SCUPPYs Going for All The Green
Hippies, Preppies, Yuppies all came before as demographic groups that influenced the way things worked (or didn’t work.) Now the greenies have taken on a new role and Chuck Failla wants to be the leader of the SCUPPY: Social Conscious Upwardly Mobile Professional. Hanging at Starbucks and Ikea, he thinks he can get the seemingly opposite groups to do social good.
Failla runs a successful New York/Connecticut financial planning firm, and he's a do-gooder, offering his services free to non-profit groups. He says he invented this latest neologism 10 years ago when he was a yuppie stockbroker (Armani suit and Rolex) doing pro bono work for a homeless organization.
